Flags ordered to half staff in honor of fallen airman

Idaho Governor Butch Otter has ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Air Force Captain David Lyon of Sandpoint. Captain Lyon was killed in Afghanistan on December 27th when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device.

Flags at the State Capitol and all State-owned facilities will be lowered from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, January 8th. Funeral services for Captain Lyon will be held on Wednesday in Colorado Springs. A graduate of the Air Force Academy, Lyon will be laid to rest in the Air Force Academy Cemetery.

Those who knew Lyon describe him as an incredible athlete, a leader and a kind and genuine man. He leaves behind his wife Dana, who also graduated from the Air Force Academy.
