City of Mullan invites mayor candidates to forum | Events
Due to the number of candidates running for mayor in Mullan this year a citizen's committee has organized a candidate forum for Tuesday, October 22nd. All four candidates have been invited and so far three have confirmed that they will attend.
“This is the first time in decades that Mullan has had so many candidates vying for the office of Mayor,” said Clare Drake, Committee Chairperson for the Mayoral Candidate Forum. “We believe it's important for voters to learn more about the candidates, where they stand on issues and what ideas they might bring to the table to improve city services and boost the Mullan economy.”
Each candidate will make an opening statement and introduction before a moderator asks the candidates a series of questions in a rotational format. Each candidate will have one minute to respond to each question. Some questions will provide time for rebuttal.
Question topics include:
- General questions about each candidate's background and familiarity with city government
- How government might help improve and grow the Mullan economy
- How city government might enhance or expand community services
- How city government might gain access to additional sources of revenue
Following the formal program, voters will be able to meet and talk with individual candidates. Candidates will also be allowed to distribute literature. The mayor forum begins at 6 pm in the Morning Club auditorium on Tuesday, October 22nd.
