Sandpoint nursing assistant awarded for caring act | Community Spirit
From Life Care Centers of America:
Elany Kisner, a certified nursing assistant at Life Care Center of Sandpoint, received Life Care Centers of America’s Northwest Division Whatever It Takes And Then Some Award on Sept. 24, 2013, for her dedication to customer service.
Executives from Life Care awarded Kisner a $1,000 cash prize during an awards ceremony at the company’s Annual Management Meeting. She was chosen from among thousands of associates in her division, which encompasses Idaho, Oregon and Washington. She was one of only seven associates from Life Care’s more than 220 facilities nationwide to receive the award.
While Kisner does her job well daily, she was particularly praised for a special act of caring in 2012.
A resident was a songwriter, and he was turning 70. For weeks before his birthday, Kisner observed and listened as he composed the words and melody to a new song for his wife. Kisner wrote it down for him because he was blind. At his birthday party, she sang it for him and his guests.
“When she sang it at his party, there was not a dry eye in the room,” the wife said.
Kisner went even further than that and recorded the song so the couple could have it to keep.
Life Care Centers of America’s Whatever It Takes And Then Some customer service campaign rewards associates for their extraordinary acts of kindness. Monthly awards are presented in Life Care facilities nationwide based on nominations from fellow associates, family members, residents and guests. Each facility then chooses an annual winner, from which the divisional winners are selected.
“Dedicated caregivers routinely go far above and beyond their job descriptions, and Elany Kisner certainly demonstrates by her example their professionalism and compassion for the residents they serve,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “We are proud of Elany and the thousands she represents in their selfless approach to the needs of others.”
Life Care Center of Sandpoint, located at 1125 N. Division St., is one of nine skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Idaho managed or operated by Life Care Centers of America.
